John Bowen, anthropologue américain, enseigne à la Washington University (Saint-Louis), à Sciences-Po Paris et à la London School of Economics. Il concentre ses recherches sur la manière dont l’islam est vécu à travers le monde et plus particulièrement en Europe occidentale et en France.
Il est l’auteur de Can Islam be French ? Pluralism and Pragmatism in a Secularist State (Princeton University Press, 2010, publié en français chez Steinkis en 2011) et de L’islam, un ennemi idéal (Albin Michel, 2014).
